September 2025 Hired the architect: Scott Keck Architecture and Design Hired a mechanical Engineer, Norman Grusnick for the Heat Recovery System. Hired a contractor, BNG Heating and Sheet Metal, to install the Heat Recovery System equipment. This work needs to be done ahead of the full project due to grant timing requirements.
Summer 2025 Building permit enquiry which resulted in having to hire an Architect for the project as well as mechanical and electrical engineers. Issued Request for Quotation for architect, accessible door and Heat Recovery System. Spring 2025 Successful in obtaining the following Grants:
Canadian Government Green Initiative Community Building (GICB) program for 80% of the project cost up to $532,000 approved in principal.
Destination B.C. $15,000
Sunshine Coast Foundation $10,000
With the approval of the GICB program the scope of the project was expanded to match the application made to the GICB. The scope now includes upgrades such as accessibility features (automatic doors, upgraded washrooms), and energy efficiency improvements (solar panels, energy recovery ventilation system, new windows.)
Summer 2024 Notice was made to the community that there were some issues with the hall roof structure and that the roof and its structure needed to be replaced. Fundraising and grant application started. Spring 2024 Structural Drawings were prepared Project scope was defined as roof truss replacement, strengthening of the lower roofs structure, new roofing materials, LED lighting. Contractor prepared an estimate and a schedule for the project.
Autumn/Winter 2023 Contractor noticed that the hall roof structure was sagging, both on the main hall and the additions. A structural Engineer, Allester Engineering was hired. Assessment of the roof structure was made and it was found that the hall roof structure will need to be reinforced or replaced soon.
