Originally focused on roof and truss replacement, to qualify for the Government of Canada’s Green and Inclusive Community Buildings Program (GICB) GICB we expanded the project and have included crucial upgrades such as accessibility features (automatic doors, upgraded washrooms), energy efficiency improvements (solar panels, energy recovery ventilation system, new windows), and enhanced safety (fire suppression).
The detailed scope of the Project includes:
Review of the existing roof structure and recommendation by a professional structural engineer (completed)
As built drawings of the building (completed)
Building performance review by a qualified engineer to meet grant requirements (completed)
Building permits
Hiring a qualified contractor thru a formal bidding process
Contractor mobilization (materials, equipment like cranes and scaffolding, site office, etc.)
Site safety and access management during work
Install scaffolding inside the hall
Remove the ceiling lights, remove and store insulation
Remove the wood ceiling of the Hall and keep for potential reinstallation
Remove existing metal roof and gutters
Remove the Hall existing roof trusses
Check the roof structure of the lower areas and design strengthening of the support framing as required
Design, fabricate, install new trusses over the Hall area
Perform repairs of the structure over lower roofs
Install new roofs and gutters
Design and install solar panels on the roof
Reinstall the hall ceiling if feasible, install upgraded insulation
Install new ceiling LED lights
Design and install a fire suppression system
Design and install an energy recovery ventilation system
Install news windows
Upgrade the washrooms
Install automatic door openers for wheelchair access
Remove debris and keep the site clean on a continuous basis
Clean up and demobilize
