Hi, my name is Joel Payeur, and I’m a new resident of Pender Harbour.
When I’m not swinging a hammer at work, I’m pushing my limits as a competitive endurance athlete. Every year, I take on a personal challenge to raise funds for a cause, and this year, I want to give back to the community that has welcomed me so warmly. On Saturday, May 3rd, at 10 AM, I’ll be setting out to run nonstop for 24 hours on the Pender Hill loop, finishing on Sunday, May 4th, at 10 AM. No sleep, just sheer determination—and all in the name of a great cause. This year, I’m fundraising for the Pender Harbour Community Hall, in Madeira Park. In a small town like ours, a community hall is more than just a building—it’s a gathering place, a space that brings people together from all walks of life. My goal isn’t just to raise funds but to create a sense of unity, to turn strangers into neighbors, and to strengthen the bonds that make Pender Harbour special. To make the event even more exciting, we’ll have a BBQ and drinks available by donation at my home, with amazing food from Oak Tree Butcher and Harbour Pizza. If you stop by the Pender Hill trailhead, you’ll find us—no need to post my address online! This is more than just a run. It’s a chance for us to come together, support each other, and build something lasting for our community. Whether you donate, cheer me on, or just stop by for a bite, I’d love to see you there. Let’s make this 24 hours count!! |
